The FACS group maintains space data in conjunction with the Facilities Management Division. A space survey is conducted on a regular basis.  Information from the survey is used to functionalize space, helping us to determine where research is taking place and what sort of activity is associated with each area. This data is then used for proper allocation of costs in the F&A rate proposal.
