Emory National Primate Research Center Facilities and Administrative Rates

Emory National Primate Research Center has F&A rates that are distinct from the rest of Emory University. These rates are developed in conjunction with the University F&A rates but have some additional complexity due to the nature of primate center funding. Emory National Primate Research Center rates are based off 3 separate components:

  1. A – Federal core component (P-51)
  2. B – Federal non-core component
  3. C – Non-Federal non-core component

Together, these 3 components are used to comprise the Yerkes F&A rates:

  1. A rate = Federal core component (A) and is applied to federal core grants (P-51)
  2. B rate = A component + B component and is applied to federal non-core grants
  3. C rate = A component + C component and is applied to non-federal grants

Treatment of F&A recovery from primate center rates is also handled differently from the rest of the University. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) mandates that recovery from the B and C components of the rate be reported as program income and used to support their federal awards at Emory National Primate Research Center. These program income costs are intended to offset core funded costs in support of Emory National Primate Research Center operations.
